How to Store a Canoe Without Warping or Damaging It

A rack is convenient and space-efficient, while padded ground supports are inexpensive and easy to arrange. The right choice depends on your canoe's material, available space, and how often you move it.
Store the canoe upside down when possible
Turning a rigid canoe upside down keeps rain, leaves, and melting snow out of the cockpit. It also places the hull's stronger gunwales against the supports rather than leaving the broad bottom pressed against a hard surface.
Support the canoe at two or more wide, padded contact points. The supports should carry the boat evenly without creating narrow pressure points. A pair of properly positioned cradles, padded beams, or purpose-built canoe racks can work well.
Avoid resting the canoe directly on concrete, asphalt, bare wood, or metal. Hard surfaces can abrade the finish, hold heat against the hull, or concentrate pressure on small areas. Prepare the canoe before putting it away
